Seriously, all you moms in the northwest, Midwest, northeast, I have no clue how you do it. It has been chilly here since Christmas. Temps have been holding in the 30s and 40s for days on end. Very unlike Austin (I know that a lot of you are waaaayyyy colder than here. Please don’t shoot the messenger).
We have barely ventured out of the house since Christmas day and I’m going crazy! If we don’t have something formal planned (play date, story time, baby class) I try to get A out of the house at least once a day. Walks, playing in the backyard and trips to the mailbox can burn some time in the afternoon when fussiness has been known to occur. A is such an observer that he is content to just go along for the ride.
I’m from Illinois but I’ll tell you, my blood has thinned. 40 even 50 degrees is cold to me now. And as a true Texan, A does not have a proper winter coat and therefore, I just don’t want to take him outside for very long.
So what have we done? Well, we have brought the outside inside. A got a wagon and a cozy coupe for Christmas. I have spent what feels like hours pushing/pulling him around the house.
But for the sake of my carpet, I’m praying for a warm up soon!
Oh man, I feel like I'm in the opposite boat. It's just SO! DARN! HOT! that I can't even comprehend going outside on most days, and feel awful about keeping Ethan cooped up especially since he has a brand new swingset outside. SIGH.
ReplyDeleteMackenzie loves that wagon! She has car that she can ride on and it has yet to be an outdoor toy. Plus it burns energy when she rides it inside. We also have balls that she plays with inside. I know I'll regret that one day.,...
ReplyDeleteHaha! Try living here! It's been 20-30 below celcius (I have no idea what that is in fehrenheit)since before Christmas - it hit minus 10 degrees celcius this week and I was so excited it wasn't too cold to bundle the kids up and go out! :)
